Tim Ferriss 10 Day Fast has with No Muscle Loss has people asking, “how do you do it?” Well I set out to find some answers.
Dr. Dominic D’Agostino is a research scientist working at the University of South Florida. He has been at the forefront of research into ketosis and how the ketogenic state can help with control of epileptic seizures and cancer. He developed the first exogenous ketone supplement and has been focusing his research on improving and developing it.
Exogenous ketones are consumed, not created by the body. His work is showing some very exciting breakthroughs in the biological responses to the different types of ketones for the person looking to do something that feels like work, you can read his works on synthetic ketones here.
This Podcast is an eye-opening interview. One that I have listened to 10 times or more. I was captivated by Dr. D’Agostino’s research and I saw clearly how the ketogenic diet can provide the additional brain function needed for the Outdoor Entrepreneur. Moreover, the ketogenic diet can add significant performance capabilities to those of us back country outdoor entrepreneurs and enthusiasts. More on this in a subsequent post.
Dr. Dom has got to be one of the most thoughtful and intelligent people I have ever heard or met (if you consider email correspondence meeting). The thing is that keeps me coming back for more is his authenticity and his desire to help others. He has one of the best reputations in the keto community as a humble, helpful, and very giving individual. Dom D’Agostino is going to assist in making huge leaps towards curing the metabolic diseases that are debilitating our nation.

Ok back to the 10 day fast and Tim Ferriss statements on twitter and in the aforementioned podcast about fasting for 10 days and not loosing muscle. I assure this can be done.
The key to intermittent fasting is to approach it under the care of your physician. This is more than a disclaimer. Starving your body of essential nutrients if you are not under a physicians car can cause serious illness or death. Also this is a recommendation form my experience and I am not a Doctor nor a nuerophisiologist as I sometimes say in jest. Start your intermittent fasting in phases. In small bites if you will excuse the pun. A great resource I have found for this is great resource on FaceBook.
So I my last intermittent fast of 5 days I utilized the following supplements each day and lost no body fat while loosing 4.4 lbs of body fat. I did not perform the 10 day fast because I do not believe I am ready for that duration until later into my journey. I weighed 231 lbs at the start of the fast. I supplemented my fast with the following:
16 oz. glasses of water w/1 TBL salt 3 times a day
21 grams of KetoCana synthetic Ketone powder 3 times a day
14 grams of Branch Chain Amino Acids 3 times a day
100 Mg of Ala Lapoic Acid 2 times a day
200 Mg of Magnesium 3 times a day
110 ozs of water throughout the day
I was able to accomplish this while working on a brand new start up launch and several other ongoing projects. You see for me the keto protocol especially during periods of fasting I experience the most unbelievable levels of cognitive clarity and stamina. I look forward to taking my fasting to the next level in upcoming months.
